Kevin Jenkins is the Oakland City Council President and Councilmember for District 6, representing East Oakland neighborhoods with a commitment to public safety, accountability, and community-driven solutions. He previously served as Interim Mayor, guiding Oakland through a critical transition period with stability and transparency. Known for his collaborative leadership style, Kevin focuses on delivering real results — from improving emergency response and neighborhood safety to advancing housing solutions and modernizing city government.

Kevin's Accomplishments
Kevin Jenkins has provided steady, results-driven leadership for Oakland during one of the City’s most pivotal periods. As Councilmember and City Council President, and later Interim Mayor, he helped reopen all Oakland fire stations for the first time in 20 years, improve 911 response times, and secure critical funding to modernize emergency systems. Under his leadership, Oakland successfully hosted NBA All-Star Weekend, restored stability during a mayoral transition, and issued $334 million in bonds reflecting renewed fiscal confidence.

Kevin led humane encampment resolutions that connected residents to housing and services, advanced long-overdue Charter Reform, and partnered with state and regional leaders to scale homelessness solutions. In District 6, he delivered concrete investments in traffic safety, parks, lead remediation, and sideshow deterrence — improving quality of life while prioritizing public safety, accountability, and community trust.
